Privacy Policy
Last updated August 13, 2026
This policy explains how Frames collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use frames.game and its film and television guessing, leaderboard, sharing, and research features.
Information we collect
Account and Google user data
You can play with an anonymous account. If you choose to sign in with Google, Frames accesses the basic account information Google makes available through the sign-in flow, such as your email address, display name, profile image, and Google account identifier. We use this information only to authenticate you, identify your Frames account, display your signed-in status, and keep your progress with that account.
Profile and public leaderboard data
A signed-in player may choose a public username. After a player sets a username, Frames may use approximate city and country information derived from the network request by our hosting provider when a round is completed. The chosen username, approximate location, scores, rank, rounds played, rounds solved, average frames, and average solve time may appear on public leaderboards. Players without a username appear under a pseudonymous Cinephile identifier. Clearing your username also removes the location from your public profile.
Gameplay and feature activity
We process rounds played, guesses, passes, frames revealed, scores, timing, completion status, collection choices, challenge links, and share methods to operate the game, preserve progress, calculate standings, prevent duplicate actions, and understand feature use.
Film and television research
When you use research features, your questions and the conversation context are sent with information about the completed title to our AI service providers so they can generate an answer. Frames does not intentionally store research conversation text in its own database. We do record limited usage information to enforce the research limit. Providers may process or retain requests under their own terms and privacy policies.
Device, log, and analytics data
Our hosting and analytics providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referrer, approximate location, timestamps, performance measurements, and diagnostic logs. Frames also records privacy-limited product events such as starting or completing a round, frame number, score, media type, sharing method, and sign-in-flow placement. Those product events do not include your guess text, research questions, email address, or film answer.
Cookies and local storage
Frames uses cookies required for anonymous or signed-in authentication, security, and session continuity. We also use first-party cookies for round and collection selection, generally for up to 30 days. Session storage may temporarily remember an opened challenge so we can show the comparison after you finish. You can clear these through your browser, but doing so may sign you out or remove local continuity.

Google API data
Frames uses Google user data only to provide and secure Google sign-in and the connected Frames account. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or disclose it except to service providers that help us operate Frames, when you direct us to, or when legally required. Google account data is stored with our authentication provider and protected using access controls and encryption in transit. Frames' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
We retain account, gameplay, profile, and security records for as long as needed to provide Frames, maintain leaderboards and shared challenges, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Retention can vary by record and may continue in backups for a limited period. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information and connected Frames account by emailing dan@frames.game. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where legally permitted or required.
Your choices and rights
You may play anonymously, decline Google sign-in, clear browser storage, remove your public username and associated location, and sign out. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or object to certain processing. Email us to exercise a right. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Security, international processing, and children
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Frames is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Frames changes. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice when appropriate. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to dan@frames.game.
